Welcome to the forums of The Alexander Lowen Foundation.
If you have explored enough to get here, we encourage you to post to our forums.
We?d like to share some of our ideas in presenting these forums. With the internet, it is now possible to enable a community with common interests to interact and exchange ideas and experiences in near real time despite geographical dispersity, enhancing the community vitality. Bioenergetic-minded people are strongly united in mind, but widely dispersed. We hope the forums will enhance the connectedness of our community.
We have five forums plus the GuestBook Honoring Alexander Lowen.
The GuestBook will serve to provide up-dates on his health. Also, those who have known him are encouraged to recount recollections, or recent visitors to share impressions, and well wishers to share their messages.
The five forums are:
1) Foundation-Website Content: this web-site is still under construction, and the Foundation is very much in the formative stage. Any suggestions and discussions to enhance the effectiveness of either, or constructive criticism will be closely considered.
2) Bioenergetics Analysis: pertains to Bioenergetic Analysis as psychotherapy, with any pertinent discussion of Wilhelm Reich, Freud, and psychoanalysis. Discussion of bioenergetic exercise, or group work, and how to further the use/development of Bioenergetics is all fair game. Comments from practitioners, clients, or interested individuals are welcome.
3) Mind-Body Health: or psychosomatic disorders, is meant to explore the implications Bioenergetic Analysis has for physical pain and physiological disorders, and the maintenance of health and well-being. We would like to hear how individuals have improved their health and well-being, or dealt with a disease or disorder, in light of bioenergetic principles. Too, becoming elderly is a challenge we all face. Researchers and medical professionals are encouraged to share their insights. Ideally, strategies to explore some of these questions scientifically will emerge.
4) Environmental Spirituality: is for anything that doesn?t fit into the forums above. As used here, ?environment? is an all-encompassing term that includes not only the Natural environment, and all the built environments we create and inhabit, but also the inter-personal environments such as family, school, work, institutional, etc. We recognize and wish to explore these inter-connections with a goal to enhance harmonies and lessen disharmonies, thereby assisting people to live more sustainably within the Natural environment. Discussions of global warming and climate change, pros and cons of nuclear power, solar power, cow power; childcare, eldercare, the effectiveness of primary education; consumerism, globalization, and corporate interest versus public good; species extinction; resource use and abuse; the double-edge sword of technology; etc. are all appropriate subjects here. It is hoped that these discussions will uncover some of the energetic processes operating in individuals and groups that result in positive or negative consequences, irrespective of the rationale and logical justification given for actions/positions taken or decisions made.
5) Tools For Living: is to be a future web-site designed for people who have little or no knowledge of Bioenergetics. If The Alexander Lowen Foundation is successful, it will offer such a web-site as a service and resource for people who are dealing with personal and/or inter-personal problems and issues. We currently have little conception of what such a web-site should look like, so we are providing this forum for anybody?s ideas, thoughts, or suggestions. This section is sub-categorized into ?Self,? ?Family,? ?Community,? and ?World.?
Feel free to create topics and/or reply to posts. The GuestBook does not require registration while the forums do. You may use your name, or an anonymous screen name, or both on different posts. We currently have no moderating or censoring policy; however, disrespectful or inappropriate posts will be removed.
For our international friends, please create separate topics if you would like to post in a language other than English; one language per topic will keep things simpler.
